The Danger of Twitter

Tonight AJ and I were watching Jeopardy while we waited out the monstrous storm that attacked DC. I also happened to be texting my mom and emailing with Sweet Bea on my BlackBerry (I know, I know...not so smart given the weather conditions) because I am addicted to technology and can't stand not being in constant contact with others. Moving on....

At one point during the show Stefan, one of the contests, responded to an answer about Batman with the question "Who is Catwoman?" and then purred quite seductively. It was way weird, and since my phone was in hand, I obviously tweeted about it....

Well, just now I was looking at my replies on Twitter, when I saw this....

And then realized that "sgraps", is in fact, the guy from Jeopardy....

So I responded that it was okay, and that I wished him luck tomorrow (he is currently a three day champion) because I felt really bad. Yes, it is weird to purr on national television, but don't we all act a little strange now and then?

I know I do ;)

I certainly never thought that he would see my tweet, but I guess that is one of the dangers of being on Twitter (without a protected account, of course). I will certainly be more cautious in the future because although it is my Twitter and I can essentially post whatever I want, I don't want to be unkind to people I don't know. Making people feel bad is not on my to-do list.

  7. That seems so random. But I guess if I were ever on Jeopardy I'd probably want to know what people were saying about me as well.

  8. But see that's how Twitter is different from instant messenging, it is a conversation taking place in a truly open space.

Sure you never thought he'd see it but there's always the chance he would.

I was talking with Maxie over Twitter about Sheetz and next thing I know Sheetz comments in and is now following me.

I've been back and forth about proecting updates because once you do that- it becomes more IM and less microblogging. I'm still not sure where I stand on it I'm just thinking out loud...

  12. This is SO FUNNY. For the record, he is TOTES creepy. But also super smart. Just a tad...socially awkward perhaps?

And can you believe he wagered $20,000 in final Jeopardy?

Have I just admitted how big of a nerd I am??!

  13. LOL that is hilarious! He is very creepy, I think he's an umemployed pothead - I mean, "video game tester and camp counselor". I don't know, he just unnerves me and I root for anyone else to win Jeopardy.

I never knew so many people watched that show!

  14. hahaha! that's too funny!!

i do just think Stefan is creepy overall... something about him just irks me. maybe it's that no one should know THAT much random stuff, i dunno. Ken was definitely less socially awkward (do you remember Ken?)

  17. Oh my gosh!!! It is important to remember that what we put out there really is "out there" for anyone to see.

  18. That is hilarious. I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing.

I guess that's the risk everyone must take in this technologically-fast world...everything is open for public critique. I guarantee we'll all think before we publicly purr from now on! :)

  19. I literally spit out my water while I was reading this - this is TOO freaking funny! I can't believe he found this - he must have been searching Twitter for his own freaking name! Unbelieveable.

  20. I actually think it's hilarious :) That's the problem with everyone being connected, it means everyone and not just the people you think are. I'm still staying away from Twitter, I don't think I can handle any more technology in my life.
